From the Chaos of Spring to the Growth of Summer

First Time Summer Program Starting June 15th!

Spring is in full bloom and the chaos that seems to accompany early spring seems to be settling down somewhat.

I first noticed how spring often brings up all kinds of chaotic and challenging behaviour in people way back in the early ‘80s when I was running my oilfield supply company, way before I got into doing any real personal work. It seemed fights and arguments would often breakout where there didn’t seem to be any real problems previously. Since then I’ve noticed that kind of behaviour on a regular basis in the spring.

There’s something quite messy about new life after loss. When everything is breaking out of the confines of a long winter of grief there’s a newfound freedom as well as a new level of realizing that we are facing the unknown which can be pretty scary. I suspect that may be one of the reasons we hang on to the past or to our pain or guilt long after it has served its purpose; we simply don’t want to experience the fear of facing the unknown. Eventually, however, if it is meant to be there is something within that will push us out of our cocoon into some kind of action.

I’ve learned over the years to trust that nudge from within. When it’s time to make our move, to deal with our past, to heal the hurts we will know it, often because it has simply become too uncomfortable to keep hanging on.

That to me is truly good news. It means I don’t have to make something happen, I simply have to be available when it does. That goes both for the inner work that is constantly unfolding in me and for the grief recovery work I facilitate for others. I have to let people know I’m here and I have something of value to offer. When the time is right the seed planted in the chaos of spring with ripen through the warm summer of growth.

So, since grief doesn’t really go on holidays, I’m responding to the nudge to go ahead and have a summer program for anyone who is feeling the urge to dive into the wonderful process of grief recovery. This will be a seven week program starting Wednesday June 15th and will be held at Part of the Family at 11904 – 113 Avenue in Edmonton starting at 7 pm. If it’s your time you can register on the Grief Recovery Program page.

There will also be two free Mending Broken Hearts Seminars prior to that, one on Thursday May 12th at Part of the Family and one on Tuesday June 7th at Park Memorial Reception Centre at 9709 – 111 Avenue. Both are from 7 to 8:30 pm and do not require preregistration. Just come and join me for an evening of honest talk about grief and recovery.

Wishing you all a sunny, relaxing and wonder filled summer!
Namaste
