We have some wind today which means all those beautiful autumn-coloured leaves are falling. It’s been a good run and we knew it was temporary having all those brilliant fall colours everywhere.
Another good reminder that all things are temporary. We try so hard to hang on to the good times sometimes that we squeeze the life right out of them. Like when everything is going so well, we feel good, and we think we’ve arrived. Yes indeed, we’ve arrived in that moment, then the train leaves the station and that incredibly connected feeling moves on down the tracks to be replaced by something that may not feel quite so wonderful in the moment.
I’ve noted that when I can accept the ups and downs of life with equanimity then there is a lovely kind of grace that carries me through those low periods as well as the highs.
It has also come to my attention that when I’m on a high of connectedness I can kind of get lost in the feeling and I stop doing the things that got me feeling so connected in the first place, like taking time throughout the day to shift my focus inward and just breathe and let go and appreciate the moment. That’s ok, it just means it’s time to savour these new moments and reconnect. It’s all part of this human experience and it keeps me humble…
