What is it to forgive but to say I have been hurt by something and now I must acknowledge the pain and make a commitment to myself that I will not let what happened hurt me anymore.
When we hang on to our hurts and resentments what we are doing is playing the painful scenarios over and over in our heads (and in our lives) and re-injuring ourselves rather than allowing ourselves to heal.
There is no condoning of hurtfulness or abuse in this practice, there is acceptance of what is, compassion for the pain and commitment to one’s own well-being. All else must be released into the heart of love so that we can be free.
