In the height of summer with the magnificence of nature all around us, I take a moment to savour it all and appreciate just how blessed I am to be living where I am and when I am. There is so much to be thankful for and there is much to contemplate as well as I move into this weekend of Spiritual Direction intensive along with facilitating a contemplative practices class and doing a talk titled ‘You and Me Create Society’.

This has been a powerful time of reflection and soul searching in relation to the part I play and that we all play in society. I so appreciate getting these topics to research and reflect upon because to be honest, I of myself would never have come up with this one. It is timely however, and essential to embrace our oneness not only in spirit but on the physical and social side of life as well. It’s been too easy for me to sit back and do my own little thing and forget how vital a part we each play in creating society and the systems that we all must live with and within.

The inner journey we are on must at some point be a gateway bringing us to the bigger picture or what is the point? Is it all about me or my family and friends? Or is the inner journey really about the global community? I have experienced much frustration and feelings of powerlessness and the desire to give up many times as I’ve pondered society and what is going on globally. I see how being at peace and radiating love with my energy, my vibration, my prayer and my very being is contributing to the whole but the perennial question is ‘Is there something more for me to do to participate in making this a healthier, more just, equitable and loving society?’

As is so often the case, it’s about living into the answers and allowing myself to be transformed in the process. So, I enter this weekend with questions in my heart and willingness in mind.

ps The picture is of the metal work on our new gate. It’s made in Haiti from old drums. We love it!
