As I prepare for my next class series based on Cynthia Bourgeault’s book The Heart of Centering Prayer and the talk I will be doing this Sunday at Unity of Edmonton on Embodied Abundance, I am deeply aware of the connection between the increasing capacity and ability to experience the fullness of abundance as a lived experience and the practice and philosophy of Centering Prayer.

I have been practicing this form of meditation for over a year now. For long periods it doesn’t really feel like a lot is going on which is typical of spiritual practice, then all of a sudden, or so it seems, I realize just how differently I am seeing the world and how I am experiencing life. There is an expansiveness, some kind of transformation happening that is beyond my understanding but certainly not beyond my awareness.

An example is how when I get into my ego stuff where it wants to make things personal and old thought patterns of not being enough arise. It doesn’t take long to notice it and to let myself feel the energy of it while seeing the source as being untrue. The thing that is so very different now is that in those moments, I find myself choosing God which is part of the Centering Prayer practice as we let go of all those thoughts that would take us down the garden path instead of being present to Awareness. It all leads to a much more connected, allowing space where true appreciation and abundance are felt.

Can’t say enough how grateful I am for what is happening as it continues to unfold. The beauty of all this is that there is no limit to where Spirit can take us as evolution goes on and take us with it.
