I have no idea what that really means but it seems to be the call of the soul that is moving me to evolve beyond anything I have ever before imagined. It’s what fascinates me, moves me and brings joy to my heart. It’s a big concept to be sure so I intend to write about my journey and my perceptions about the journey one step at a time as I currently understand them (and that is constantly evolving too).
We all have our own calling, and we will each reveal our Divine Potential by answering that call from within. I’m just sharing mine with the intention of inspiring you to answer yours in the way that’s right for you.
So, what’s the first step? I’d have to say it is to embrace the very concept that we have Divine Potential beyond our human potential. I may not know what that is exactly, but I do have a beautiful model for it, Jesus. He is not the only one of course, there are others who attained that realization, but he is the model I feel most affinity with, I am most drawn to, I have studied the most and continue to do so.
In the way I see the story of his life, he got hold of the concept of his Divine Nature when he was baptized by John. That would be different for each one of us, that moment of revelation, but what we have in common when this is our life path is that we get the call; whether it is an insight in our meditations or someone says something that triggers that journey or we go through some kind of tragedy, some major loss that causes us to question our lives and the meaning of life itself leading us to a revelation that there’s something within us that is much greater than anything we have ever experienced in this life.
This marks the beginning of the greatest quest imaginable. I have had many adventures in this life but there is nothing that compares to the one I’m in right now. It has been unfolding for many years and as far as I can tell this evolution in consciousness is endless because Consciousness, which is all that is, is infinite. There is no there to get to; even though I may use the metaphor of a journey it isn’t to a far away destination but rather there is an infinite now to be revealed.
The beauty of this relative existence in time and space, whether you see it as an illusion or not, is that we get to experience every kind of idea that we can conceive in so many different ways and at so many different levels. So, while it may all be here now, we get to touch, taste, feel, hear and smell it all one bit at a time. We get to savour each experience and take the next step and have a new experience and it is all perfect in its own time. So, the first step is taken when we say yes to the call. Now the fun really begins!
Thus ends this first installment exploring what it might mean to realize our Divine Potential. I, like you, do not have a clue where this is going but I have no doubt it is the ride of a lifetime.
