Our instructor had a great question for us last night at the Self-Awareness class. She asked us to bring to mind and describe three things:
- A time in our lives when I was listening from my mind and what I heard
- A time I listened with my heart and what I heard
- A time I listened with my spirit and what I heard
The first two were very familiar to me and easy to answer. The mind listening hears not a lot really because it’s too busy thinking about how to respond or judging or assessing and such.
Of course, listening from the heart there is a softening, more of a sense of the person who is speaking not just the words, but their energy and more of a feeling of connection and flow of love.
But listening from the spirit…that had me a bit stumped. I didn’t know what the difference was between listening from the heart and listening from the spirit. I still don’t really but it sure has me wondering if there is indeed a difference and what it would be like if there is. I imagine there would be no sense of separateness as we are all one in Spirit but again, I don’t know.
I am willing to find out though, so I’ll just keep wondering…
