Some days I go through the news feeds and social media pages and just wonder… What are we getting ourselves all caught up in now? So much has nothing to do with anything; famous people acting out, the same stories repeated so many times you start to think that’s what’s really going on all over; but it’s not.

I don’t really care about what the rich and famous are up to; I do care about people who are genuinely struggling, and I do care about how we respond to that. I care about mental/emotional/spiritual health and what I can do to help. For me it is mostly in sharing my process and some of the wonderful contemplative practices I am learning and adopting into my own daily regimen. I share mostly through the Sacred Soul Circles I facilitate and in Sunday talks, but the Circles are ending this month as we complete our six month commitment and I would like to keep moving with sharing what I am learning in the spiritual direction training.

I have come to realize just how important it is to have daily practices of letting go of the mind chatter and opening to the Divine. It’s fine to talk about it but in the end, it’s only through practice that we can experience any kind of real transformation. And that’s what it’s all about, transformation from the bondage of the small self to the freedom of True Self.

Freedom, that’s what most of us want in some fashion or other. Sometimes we think we want independence but is that really possible? We are so completely dependent on the earth, other people and the Divine to sustain us that I think we’re kidding ourselves with the concept of independence. I think we really want to be free to make our own choices, to love completely, to be creative in our own unique way, to express from our very souls. For that we need to free ourselves from the falsehoods we’ve adapted ourselves to and that’s what contemplative practices are all about.

So, starting in May I will be facilitating monthly contemplative practice classes. I would like to do it in person if that is possible (or on Zoom if it isn’t yet practical) so I will be making arrangements and posting updates as I go along.

It’s a journey and not everyone is called to it but for those of us who are, there are many rich processes that can help. That’s what we’ll be exploring together.

Stay tuned…
