I may not be writing many blogs these days, but I sure am doing a lot of contemplating it seems, along with all the reading and writing for my classes which is so enriching.

One of the things that has really captured my attention and sense of wonder these days is the Self-givingness which is God’s love for and as Creation. I tend to think of love as joyful acceptance, the harmonizing, unifying and attracting power but for some reason I have not really spent a lot of time pondering Love as Self-givingness and I think I’ve been missing the boat somewhat.

As I ponder the self-giving nature of God/Love I am filled with wonder and gratitude as I see it absolutely everywhere. It is in nature, in the cycles of life, in life giving waters, in the plants and animals, in our own bodies the way cells and organs are constantly regenerating themselves, in people as we give to one another in so many ways. Giving our full attention to the moment, to each other, to whatever tasks we are performing are all ways we extend divine love. It is God’s very nature to give and give and give without end (love without end) and we get to participate in this givingness either consciously or unconsciously.

Going out for a walk or taking a few moments to just ponder the nature of life itself with the awareness of the givingness that is everywhere present can’t help but fill the heart and mind with gratitude. Even the very stones beneath our feet are giving us support and the beauty that is everywhere present is giving of itself just by being beautiful! We are the recipients and the extenders of love for no other reason than it is our very nature.

How cool is that!
