Life is such a full, rich experience. Some days its about overwhelming love, some days its about sadness, some days it’s about anger and some days it’s about all the above. What I find so fascinating is just how hidden some of these feelings and emotions can be even though they tend to inform how we see things and what we do.

Familiarity and beliefs about what’s ok and what isn’t ok seem to dictate how we react to life’s events but there’s a much more authentic response with the practices of contemplation and exploration. Welcoming and feeling whatever comes into awareness is important and so is taking some time to contemplate what might be fueling the feelings.

I know I’ve written about this before and God knows I’ve talked about it a lot but that isn’t what brings healing and a return to a sense of wholeness and wellbeing, it’s doing it over and over and over as many times as it takes to transform the experience and realize that it is really an opening to become more aware of the activity of Spirit no matter what is going on. To do that I need to let go of resistance enough to see things in a different light. I love the saying from Eric Butterworth (paraphrasing) about dealing with our upsets, ‘Our job isn’t to set it right, it’s to see it right.’ From right seeing it is much clearer that most things we take so very personally are really part of the human condition and we are much better able to do what is ours to do to make things better.

May we see with the eyes of love and compassion, and may we act from the awareness that we are part of the bigger picture.
