We have a fabulous question in the current module of our Integrating Body, Soul and Spirit class series.

It has actually transformed my experience of gratitude. Here’s the question and my responses.

Discuss the difference between being grateful/thankful for all things versus being grateful/thankful in all things.

Why does this matter?

I love the question, the difference between being grateful for and being grateful in…

As I feel into the difference there is more of a sense of wholeness in being grateful in all things. It is not dependent on anything or anyone being or doing anything in particular or anything at all for that matter. When I am grateful in life my heart overflows with appreciation and everything I gaze upon or experience in some way is included in the flow of gratitude and love. It is all inclusive and not dependent on any object whereas when I am grateful for all things there is more of a subject/object relationship. The former is not so much related to things but encompasses all things.

This matters because it opens up a whole new field of awareness and flow. There are no requirements when I am grateful in all things, it is simply a state of being as opposed to a transactional experience.

I had not given this any thought previously but now as I rest in the state of gratitude it feels so very expansive and wonder-full!

How does it strike you?
